Book to Basics #38 Across the Universe by Beth Ravis

There are but few but very straight-up reasons why I read Beth Ravis' novel, Across the Universe.

Reason no. 1
The book called me over. I was at the National Book Store cashier (Robinson's Galleria) when I saw this book displayed on one of the counter shelves. It called me over. I couldn't help but look at it, pick it up, put it down, and do all those all over again... so I ended up buying it. Last minute marketing, very well played NBS.

Reason no. 2 (must be related to reason no.1)
The book cover is enchanting. Previously I shared how I am fascinated with book covers. Across the Universe' cover design is crazy sexy, enchanting and is smack center of my kind of design. It's like a priced museum painting... that I wish to hang on MY wall. Gladly, it's roughly a 800, sorry I tore of the tag so I can't remember how much it really is. But it's worth every cent.

Reason no. 3
It is entitled Across the Universe. I don't need to explain that. I thought it was so cool that it shared the title of one of my favorite Beatle's songs... I thought it was just a coincidence... well, it wasn't. It was indeed inspired by it. A page before the novel begins, similar to a preface/foreword/whatchamacallit, lines from the song were lifted. It made me smile. :)

Reason no.4
It's about a redhead. "It's her hair that pulls me forward. It's so red." I love redheads... I will color my hair red until it bleeds of passion and pain every split-second of my split-hair's life.

I would resist the urge to rave and divulge just about every spoiler information about this book but trust me when I say Beth Ravis' Across the Universe is a great read. I'm not a fan of sci-fi literature but have always been curious about it because it has such strong following! but this novel, sci-fi and quite frankly, very romanticized, is such an amazing, entertaining and exciting piece of literature. I really enjoyed reading it. The reasons are beyond me.

"A love out of time. A spaceship built of secrets and murder."
It reminds me of how Flipped was written. It shared that style.

It has creatively narrated and somewhat "written" design. Some pages are typed out like it were poems. The energy in this novel is astounding. I couldn't put it down.

PS. I am ashamed of this, but I want to see this novel get turned into a blockbuster movie!!! :D
