REVIEW: HBC Body Recipe Hand and Body Lotion with Papaya Extract

If you are the type who whitens, then you should know by heart how papaya is a good natural source of skin lightening agents. Papaya's been used for creams, lotions, body butters, masks, you name it. Well, I like having papaya for dessert. :)

Although I'm not trying to whiten my skin, I can't let this natural harvest a quick pass. I know for sure that papaya is amazing for the skin especially because back in highschool, when Kissa papaya soap was just launched, yours truly was such an avid user! I love how candy scented it was--plus the fact that it did help me lighten evenly. :) I am no longer using papaya soap right now, but that won't stop me from using papaya lotions ever so often?

Fortunately, my sudden longing for something papaya (I blame all the pumpkin posts this Halloween) gave me reasons to finally open my Body Recipe Skin Lightening Body Lotion with Papaya extract. Eeh, it's the orange lotion one--timely. :D

I got these lotions as part of my research for an article for Discounts Magazine--which I was told is out now! I have yet received my copy, if anyone got hold of it, please let me know where so I can buy extras :) I believe I can't find my first article for Discounts anymore... :( Damn, when will I ever learn? So much for portfolio. Oh well, carry on.

The bottle is just Php80. Here's what it says: Give your skin that youthful flow with the new Body Recipe Skin Lightening Hand and Body Lotion with Papaya Extract. It is also formulated with Vitamin E to moisturize and soften skin for a visibly whiter, smoother and radiant complexion. It's from a whole range of Body Recipe hand and body lotions--Body Milk and Calamansi.

Pros:

-like the other Body Recipe lotions/products I've tried, this lotion smells hella good! Crazy good. I can't stop breathing right now haha And isn't that a good thing?! LOL

-seriously though, it smells really amazing. I can't put my finger on it, but it's definitely my type of fruity sweet.

-it's affordable

-instead of feeling warm and thick against the skin, it actually leaves a cool feeling upon application. I checked the ingredients list and didn't notice anything menthol, so I'm not sure why to me I reckon that cool feeling--but I like it. It's refreshing. I don't like it when my lotion feels heavy. 

-proudly Filipino (made in the Philippines)

-I am fond of how the manufacturing date and expiry date are clearly indicated in the bottle--nice!
-when it is fully absorbed by the skin (give it at least 5-10 minutes, longer if you apply thickly), you would notice how smooth your skin became! This instantaneous result is something I find amazing about this product.  Oh, especially if you just shaved or waxed your legs, you'd love how it feels. :)

Cons:

-small bottle. I got the 150g only. I checked and didn't see this product in a bigger size; however that may just be a case of out of stock--so I don't want to conclude. This lotion can easily be used up if it's just available in 150g. A 200g up bottle would be most convenient!

-I can't twist the cap to make the pump work! haha It's so silly, there's this "open" instruction, and I swear I followed it but the cap's tight shut. I don't know why... Case of bad stock, perhaps?

-some ingredients may trigger allergies especially to those with hypersensitive skin. Sadly, it is very heavy on chemicals. 

Speaking, here's the ingredients list: Aqua, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, Carica Papaya extract, Aqueous-glycolic, Dimethicone, Paraffinum Liquidum, Ceteareth 20, Carbomer, Glycerin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, FD&C Yellow #5, Fragrance

Those who are after the lightening effect, this product is most likely best used with a Papaya soap. :) Meet lotion's cousin!

So I was poking around the net to satisfy my curiosity over this logo that was placed at the bottom section of the lotion's sticker: Certified Halal, and it's interesting how such certification exists! I love rules, especially if they stand for something just and proper. I'm no Muslim, and I can only know about their culture through textbooks and of course the internet, but the standards by which a Halal Certification requires are impressive. :)

Anyway, nice to learn something new each day!
